Uploading and Managing Files

In Writingmate, you have the ability to upload and manage files that contain important information or additional knowledge that can be "fed" to the models or assistants.

The files that you upload can be anything from company data, documents, textbooks, scientific articles, to other types of content relevant to your needs. By uploading files, you can enhance the context for your conversations with assistants, making the AI more effective at understanding and delivering tailored responses.

What Are Files in Writingmate?

Files act as additional data sources that you can upload to provide more context or knowledge to your models and assistants. You can upload any file format that holds valuable information, such as:

  • Business documents

  • Scientific papers

  • Learning materials

  • Company-specific data

Word files, spreadsheets, csv files, json files, code, other types of text, or even entire databases. These files are then used by the AI inside the platform. They will help to generate more contextually relevant responses, making the interaction more precise and customized.

How to Add Files

You can add files in two ways:

  1. Through the Sidebar

    • Navigate to the Files section in the sidebar and click on "Add New File" to upload your document.

    • Fields to Fill:

      • File Name: The title you want to assign to the file.

      • Description: A short description of the file to help you identify its purpose.

      • Upload: Choose the file from your local device.

  2. Using the Paperclip Icon

    • You can also upload a file directly during a conversation with an assistant by using the paperclip icon in the chat window.

    • Select the file, upload it, and immediately make it part of your conversation for enhanced AI interaction.

Example of File Uploads in Action

  1. Example 1: Let’s say you're working with an AI assistant to help you draft legal contracts. By uploading a file that contains your company’s legal policies, the assistant will reference this file to ensure that any contracts it drafts are compliant with your internal policies.

  2. Example 2: A student preparing for an exam can upload textbooks or research papers to have the assistant reference these specific materials when generating study questions or summaries.

Managing Files

Once uploaded, your files are stored and organized within the Files section in the sidebar. You can:

  • Edit file details: Change the name and also its description

  • Delete files: Remove any files that are no longer needed.

Simply navigate to the Files section in the sidebar to view, manage, or delete your uploaded files.

By having all your uploaded files in one place, you can easily manage and edit the files that you have integrated with your assistants.

Writingmate makes it simple to manage and leverage important information through file uploads. This allows for highly tailored, data-enriched interactions with your AI assistants.
