You can use files to summarize information, extract key data, or simply provide them as additional knowledge for the model. Whether you’re working with text files, PDFs, Excel sheets, or even images, integrating files into your interactions is simple and effective.
Here’s how you can use files with the AI in ChatLabs:
Sidebar Menu - Files Section
To access and use files that you’ve previously uploaded. Then, you can navigate to the Files section in the sidebar.
Select the file from the list, and choose what you want the AI to do with it — whether it's summarizing the content or extracting specific information.
Uploading Files During Conversations (Using the Paperclip Icon)
If you want to quickly upload a file during a conversation, you can use the paperclip icon next to the message input field.
Click on the paperclip, select your file, and upload it. The AI will automatically detect and analyze the content. Then, ChatLabs will be ready to assist based on the information provided and any prompt of yours.
Also, you can paste some files from clipboard.
If your file is an image (for example, a graph, scanned document, or diagram), you can also paste the image directly from your clipboard using Ctrl+B
(on Windows) or Cmd+V
(on Mac).
The AI will process the image and extract any relevant text or details. This will make it usable in the conversation.
Here are a few examples that illustrate the way in which you can utilize uploaded files effectively:
Text Document Example (Summarization)
Suppose you upload a Word or text document containing a research paper or project report.
You can ask the AI to summarize the key points of the document, identify important sections, or even analyse the text to answer specific questions.
Example Prompt: “Summarize the attached document about climate change research.”
PDF or Excel File Example (Extracting Information)
Let’s say you upload a PDF containing financial statements or an Excel spreadsheet with company data.
The AI can extract key data points such as totals, averages, or specific entries. It can also interpret the data and provide insights based on your request.
Example Prompt: “Extract and summarize the total revenue and expenses from the attached Excel sheet.”
Beyond summarization and extraction, uploaded files can serve as supplementary knowledge for the AI. For example, if you upload a detailed business guide, the AI can use it to better tailor its responses during conversations related to your business.
Example: If you have a document detailing your company’s policies, the AI can refer to that file to provide responses that align with your organization’s standards.
By utilizing files efficiently, you can empower the AI to generate more accurate and contextually relevant responses based on the specific information you provide.
This functionality is highly flexible, allowing you to use multiple file formats and types depending on your needs. Whether you want to analyse complex data or summarize lengthy documents, the integration of files into ChatLabs simplifies your workflow and enhances your experience.
In ChatLabs, uploaded files can be a powerful resource to enhance the AI’s knowledge and provide additional context to your conversations.
